Meet the Artist:

Omeed Ghavami Zadeh was born in 1965 in the city of Tehran, Iran. As a young child in a metropolitan city, he was given opportunity to experience art, music and the cultural diversity of his nation. One of the earliest influences on his life was his grandfather who had a love of beautiful things and an appreciative eye for all kinds of art.

It was through his grandfather that Omeed first became acquainted with the classical arts of Persia and the art of calligraphy. This early introduction made a deep impression which grew until his early adulthood when he sought the help of Master Calligraphers to mentor and train him in the art of calligraphy.

While attending the Iranian Society of Calligraphy (Anjoman Khoshnevisan Iran), Omeed trained under well known calligraphers such as Ostad, Hussain Ahsant who mentored him in the style of Ostad, Hassan Mirkhani. Omeed is grateful for the time and attention Ostad Ahsant and other teachers gave to him at this time in his life, for it was here that his lifelong passion for calligraphy was grounded in technical expertise and loyalty to the ancient styles of Persia.
